Price Ranges
This displays the price
ranges for the selected day. Move
your mouse left and right over the chart and the prices will change.
In the example above,
Dell opened for trading on January 8th at $28.3 and went as high as $28.52
before closing at $28.31. 23
million shares traded hands that day.

The Charts
The upper chart displays
the price history of the security.
Along the bottom (X-Axis)
is the time frame, which you can change under the Display Options. Along
the right side (Y-Axis) is the price range.
If you choose to display
Splits, Dividends, or Earnings, they appear as small icons to mark the
day.
The lower chart displays
Top.
Events and Averages
You can see on the chart
when the company paid dividends, reported earnings, or had a stock split.
Check the
appropriate box and press 'Go' to display each on the chart.
Moving averages can show
you the trend of a security. You
can view them by entering a number in one of the two boxes (labeled #1
and #2) and pressing 'Go'. 20
days is common for short-term trends, while 200 is more suitable to long-term
trading.

Comparisons
Get some perspective.
You can
compare your security with up to three others, by entering their ticker
symbols here.
In our example, you could
enter 'HPQ'
and 'IBM' to see how Dell's stock performed against Hewlett-Packard
and IBM.
For an even broader comparison,
select an index to compare against. Then press 'Go'. Did
this security outperform the S&P500?

Display
Options
These charts can show
you a lot so get in close! Select
a larger chart size and press 'Go' to see all the action.
The Time Period box allows
you to choose from one day to five years and between. Traders
will want to see day-to-day trends while buy-and-holders will benefit
from a grander scale.

Technical Analysis Methods
Beneath the primary chart
is another smaller chart. This
is your technical analysis graph. When
you first visit Quick Charts, this will be trade volume. (how many shares
changed hands)
Change this by clicking
your mouse on the box showing 'Volume', selecting another method from
the list, and pressing 'Go'.
